In search of a safe place for Women

MASHAAL JALAO DIYE SE..
a tribute to damini

With extended support of Yuwaraj Shah. A self written hindi play

Chimni a name given to her by a stranger who becomes a truest friend to her, to help her in the way he can to bring smile on her innocent face.Girl child in the country knowingly or unkowingly has undergone wrath in her early ages say it discrimination or attention. But her heart is pure. She is ambitious. She wants to go to English medium school and study like never before.

Kachrewale kaka-Shivaji Gangu Gaikwad.her friend her mate her ally.he is the only one in her life and she the only one in his life. They become the best team. This little girl grows up to a fine young women. Her marriage calls up for her.She is the most happiest girl on the earth and that night when she shares this joy with kaka she is assaulted into deep sea of sadness and everything that is like a curse for a female human.

This play not only talks about the assault which is physical. It talks about the mentality of the entire society. Is it the bringing up that makes a difference or the value system that has to be worked on?The mental stains of molestation and eve teasing  are so hard that it they can not be wiped out sometimes in the entire lifetime of a woman. The play talks about the "Maansikata" or the mentality. This is an earnest effort to clean the mentality of educated people who are actually uneducated with the help of "Kachrewale Kaka" and build a healthy society.

We are not showing what happend at the Delhi rape because there is no end of the story. But into the same mould turning it hopeful we come up with highly positive story. And we are sure that the society and every women in the society wants to live like this.
The cultural sophistication of the administration is pretty much that of the average roadside thug. Many a times system hardly knows how to talk politely, is barely educated, is uncouth, brash and rude. Is this the paragon of sensitivity a victim of rape will run to?

 The play raises questions

What is Value Creation?
What is Mentality?
What is a Healthy society?
What is Education?
What is Literacy?
We are the most fortunate to get birth as a Human Being.Where does this animality come from?
and if we do not think about this
Then tomorrow it can be us who will have to face that.

SWATANTRA THEATRE PRESENTS

"An  Evening  with  Chekhov

One of the famous plays of Swatantra, An Evening with Chekhov is based on Russian writer Anton Chekhov's short stories. These stories are adapted by Neil Simon.

All the short stories give out a variety of flavours with sprinkle of comedy and a deep sense of emotions which can make one cry and laugh.

The combination of 6 short stories  consists various colors of life with a dash of humour. The story depicts the complex facet of the writer in the play .The writers conflict at penning down his experiences as short stories; itself is an organic story in the play.

First story tells that "How lower class people in any system of hierarchy feel insecure when they commit ignorable mistake and how it creates comedy.”

Where the second story titled after “Surgery” tells how an inexperienced compounder tries to convince the patient who is suffering of tooth ache.

"Arrangement”, is a story of an open minded father who wants to make his son know and experience each and every moment when he turns 18.

"Drown Man", an example of strong acting skill representing the poor class and how are they ready to die for a single penny.

And many more comedy of errors…

ABOUT ANTON CHEKHOV

Anton Pavlovich Chekhov  was a literary artist of laconic precision who probed below the surface of life, laying bare the secret motives of his characters. Chekhov’s best plays and short stories lack complex plots and neat solutions. Concentrating on apparent trivialities, they create a special kind of atmosphere, sometimes termed haunting or lyrical. Chekhov described the Russian life of his time using a deceptively simple technique devoid of obtrusive literary devices, and he is regarded as the outstanding representative of the late 19th-century Russian realist school.

ABOUT NEIL SIMON

Neil Simon (born July 4, 1927) is an American playwright and screenwriter, he adapted various stories by Chekhov.Considered one of the finest writers of comedy in American literary history. He has written over thirty plays and nearly the same number of movie screenplays, most adapted from his plays. Although he has received more Oscar and Tony nominations than any other writer[1], many feel that he has been underrated as a playwright during much of his career because he wrote comedy rather than drama.

                                        AT

MAHARSHTRA GANDHI SMARAK NIDHI

25 shows of the film on 2nd October received a huge response.

We are happy to share that Mr. Anwar Rajan of Gandhi Smarak Nidhi happened to see the short film Godse to Gandhi with efforts of Yuwaraj Shah and this film has been selected to be placed in the library of Maharashtra Gandhi Smarak Nidhi. This film will also be screened in the "Gandhi Saptah" that is been observed every year 1st to 7th October.     JOURNEY OF THE FILM

Gandhiji has been such a name in the history of the world which makes us realise that impossible can be turned possible. Humanity and values of a Human are differentiated only by a small shift of our thoughts.Gandhiji brought such a revolution. His principles of truth and nonviolence have been praised by scholars all over the world. He freed India from the clutches of Britain rule over India which was prevailing for about 100 years.Director Abhijeet Choudhary was inspired by this contribution of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and decided to write a story. He was taken aback when during a conversation with the team, Dhanashree Heblikar striked with an idea that what if Nathuram Godse who had murdered Gandhi comes back in this age? This concept is dealt in the Film “godse to Gandhi”.

   ABOUT THE FILM

DAYASHANKAR KI DIARY

Swatantra Theatre presents another master piece "Dayashankar Ki Dairy.
Dayashankar , typical small town man who comes to the city with dreams of getting into films. Instead he lands up on a clerical job and is unable to reconcile with the drab realities of his existence.  Dayashankar is overwhelmed with a sense of rejection and humiliation. In his small dirty room, which he shares with another man, Dayashankar spins a fine cocoon of fantasies to shield himself from the reality. Ultimately he gets entangled and looses control.

The play is written by Nadira Babber and  opened almost 10 years ago,” with veteran actor  Ashish Vidyarthi in Mumbai. There was a great response.” Since then, the play has travelled to various parts of the country and has been staged twice in the UAE.  They toured the entire country with this play. They’ve not just been to metro cities, but also to interiors of states like Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
